How to Apply a DocConfig

Applying a DocConfig #

Applying a DocConfig updates your documentโ€™s styles, layout, and settings according to predefined standards. These changes may significantly modify the documentโ€™s formatting, so it is recommended to work on a copy.

  1. Click the OnStyle tab on the Word Ribbon and locate the Configuration group.
  1. In the upper-left corner of the OnStyle ribbon, click the DocConfig Selector drop-down menu.
  1. Choose a DocConfig from the list.
  2. Wait a few seconds while OnStyle updates your document’s structure and styles.

What Happens After Application #

Once a DocConfig is applied:

  • Document styles (headings, text, tables, captions) are updated.
  • Proofing language and layout settings are enforced (e.g., margins, spelling).
  • Available authoring tools and validation modules are enabled.
  • The OnStyle ribbon will show the full set of tools based on the configuration.
